Daily Outfit: Earth Tones

right in time for the cooler weather, i dug out my jersey scarves and extra layers so that i can look cool but not feel the cool.  as you know, i would much rather have weather in the 80's but, i realized that there are some things in my fall/winter wardrobe that i can't live without.
  1. my MF jersey scarves are life savers when the weather suddenly dips without warning.  They are also the perfect addition to complete an outfit.  this is the season that you will find one either on me or in my bag at all times.  it helps to have them in a bunch of colors but, i must admit, i live in the one above.  they are just so soft and comfy!!
  2. my boots - i think i have more pairs of boots than i do flats or any other type of shoe in my collection. i love them low, high or anywhere in-between.  i would definitely miss wearing my boot collection if the weather was always warm.
  3. the right coat- whether it's leather or wool, shearling or down, i can appreciate a great coat.  the cool weather makes me excited to pull out my collection.  in the colder seasons, the first thing people see are your coat so why not make a great first impression.  with all the fresh styles and colors, coats are definitely anything but boring!
... so while i am still not ecstatic about colder weather, i am glad that there are at least a few perks that i get to look forward to! xo Sesheta

PFM Obsession: Wild Warmth

Sweater weather has got me seeing spots (and tiger stripes.) Recently I'm charmed by anything animal print, and with so many sweater styles and materials to choose from I decided to put together a roundup that's as much for my benefit as it is for yours!

Feeling extra sassy? The rich red and black cheetah print may be calling your name. If you are into more of a vintage vibe, try your luck on eBay...there are plenty of fierce animal print sweaters for auction that are still going strong like the cream one above from the '80s. Although pricey, I can't help but love the second option by Smythe. Not only is it a sweater-jacket combo (endlessly versatile and cozy) but it has a classic vintage-inspired look that you will never get sick of. Leave it to Anthropologie for a swingy cashmere pullover with just a hint of bold print at the short-sleeves. The final cardi from Madewell is my fave...it's a wild yet neutral print that I could pair with most anything already in my closet. Full disclosure: no animals were harmed in the making of this post.

Happy Monday everyone...let me know if you are warming up (pun intended) to the animal print trend, or maybe you already own a special number that's just been waiting for cooler weather to be taken out? xoxo Becca

Daily Outfit: Turq and Peaches

one day, i will get to Turks and Caicos for a fun-filled, relaxed vacation.  right now, my days are filled with the bills of maintaining a house, feeding a family and finding camp tuition.  ... so until that day when i get to the actual place, i am filling my days with the color combos and pattern mixing that will bring me joy.  like this unexpected combo above.  i love the way this electric blue blends with my neon peach shirt.  they are normally two colors that i wouldn't pair together but, when inspiration strikes, there is no telling what will result lol!!  i was pleasantly surprised!  adding my leopard print jeans was just the right bit of "edge" to keep this from being too preppy.  sooo, though i'll keep playing with brights this summer, i'll really be dreaming of being on vacay!!

PFM Obsession: We Heart Vanilla Star!

Sesheta in the Gray Leopard = swag

Becca rockin' her Tan Leopards!

Becca: It's an obsession, realized! Today marks the first time that Sesheta & I intentionally wore them same item at the same time- usually it's just a happy coincidence! For good reason...we probed, pondered, and then purchased. Leopard print jeans have become a must-have item (click here to play catch up) and I've gotta say that this tan print by Vanilla Star is definitely one of my favorites. The compliments have been flowing all day...who doesn't love hearing that their derriere is looking fantastic in a new pair of jeans? True story.

The tan print goes with so much that it was almost too easy for a look to come together. I went for a bold burst of fluorescent yellow color up top and my ladylike vintage-style pumps at the bottom. A classic black silk blazer immediately makes things more dressy and put-together...a good thing since these leopard beauties were making their debut today at work. The glam MF Black Mamba necklace fell right into place in my color story. These jeans will be a staple in my weekly rotation for sure. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on the gray version too, especially after photographing Sesheta rocking them!

sesheta:  my turn!!! when Becca  posted about her newest obsession, i went straight to the Target site and clicked purchase.  just like that i was obsessed too!  (needless to say, this is not the first, or last item, that we both share in our wardrobe lol.)  animal print skinnies at a suuuuper reasonable price?  how could you say no???!!!

well, as soon as i got them, they just screamed rocker chic to me and that was the inspiration for my styling -   a leather jacket, doc martens and, of course, neon!!  i love the combination of my neon yellow top with the range of blues in my MF Tribal Fringe earrings (stay tuned for the "Fresh out of the Workshop" post featuring these babies).  the gray color is the perfect neutral backdrop for all my neon fantasies... i have already rocked these hotties a few different times and i am head over heels.  i know that Becca wants a pair like mine and i sure wouldn't mind finding a pair like hers... time to stalk ebay!! lol

Daily Outfit: Orange You Glad...Spring is in the Air?

Yes, the title of this post is a little bit cliched. I prefer the classic punchline "I didn't say banana." I think of this silly knock-knock joke anytime I wear orange, which isn't too often (whew, right?) But why save the bright colors for when warm weather arrives? We know that spring style is all about color (cue the neon!) and I just can't wait. A burst of bright orange was exactly what I needed to punch up my look. I love how the different prints and tones of brown paired with tangerine and khaki made for such freshness! Finished off with the classic denim jacket.

This was a weirdly warm day and I was so happy to finally not be shivering while taking pics in the setting sun. Higher temps to come, as tomorrow might actually hit 60 here...yay!

Daily Outfit: Sequins Make Everything Better

I knew after scoping out these tweed shorts for a post of Ask the PFMs, they would eventually be mine. Especially when they hit the sale section.

I wasn't feeling too well but what got me out of bed this particular day was the thrill of wearing something sparkly. As I put together my outfit, I felt better and better. Good even. Until about 30 minutes of being at work and then I realized- nope I was still sick. Being the trooper that I am, we took our pics and had a good laugh realizing how perfectly my nails matched my shirt. Even under the weather, this girl is still on her fashion game. Ha!

PFM Obsession: Leopard Print Jeans...For Less?

the Look
I just stumbled on something that has my finger hovering in the air over my mouse...do I click or do I not click? I have an excessive love for printed denim, in particular for the Current Elliott Leopard Jeans. I wrote about them here. I've been coveting them for some time now, searching eBay for a pair in my size and in my price range. They retail for $200, and I just don't have that money sitting around right now. The neutral grey version would be perfect for transitioning into spring...think about all the solid pastel or neon color sweaters and shirts that you can just throw on and be looking so chic!

And now...the dilemma. These Vanilla Star leopard print jeans are being sold by Target, under $30, they also come in grey and are available online (not in-stores, unfortunately.) I am tempted to go for them and abandon my search for the higher-priced version. What do you think, has anyone tried the Vanilla Stars on? Are you embracing the animal-print denim trend for Spring?

Daily Outfit: All Night Vintage Sparkle

I'm pretty sure I let out a squeal of joy when I first saw this vintage Pierre Cardin sweater. It's gold and sparkly. It's an item you want to create your outfit around. And it also happened to be the star of my back-up outfit for NYE. Originally I had a dress in mind, but after trying said dress on again (the night before, you know how that goes!) I was underwhelmed. Luckily, my lifesaver Pierre was there to give me that extra zing needed to start the New Year off right. It ain't always easy to achieve glam and comfortable, but my new dark denim skinnies helped me nail it! I added a little more drama with leopard booties, old-school hammered gold earrings, chunky bracelets, and some big hair... and poof...all ready to go out to dinner and celebrate with a close group of friends and family. Can't believe that was already a week ago today!

PS For those of you just itching to vary your relationship with the curling iron, I totally recommend trying the Hot Tools Deep Waver. Very easy to use and I love the crimped wavy results that will last for days if you let 'em. It's big frizz done just right.

Daily Outfit: Wild Circumstance

on any other day, i would have been totally stoked to have created such a fab outfit.  (i absolutely loooooooove wearing my head wrapped turban style with this leopard print scarf.) unfortunately, today is not an ordinary day and neither was the day that i took these pics.

i found out earlier that morning that my uncle had passed.  though i'm smiling in these pics, my heart is deeply saddened by my loss.  while it is never fun to lose anyone, it seems especially hard when it is unexpected.  my uncle was a beautiful spirit; he always greeted me with a smile and had jokes to share.  the thing is, this is how he is remembered by anyone who knew him.  he is going to be thoroughly missed by many.  i'll be attending his funeral today and, while it will be hard to say our final goodbyes, i'm looking forward to paying tribute to how he lived.

RIP Uncle Basil

Daily Outfit: Mee-Yowww

Fair warning- these photos were taken in an attempt to find ourselves a proper indoor shoot option during cold days. Apparently this is not the best location, but bear with us!

My hubby got me these fantastic leopard wedge booties for my birthday and I couldn't wait to debut them. Not gonna lie, I had picked them out previously...but it was definitely exciting to unwrap these beauties and put 'em on! I felt they deserved full attention, thus shorts and tights were the way to go. Kept the rest of the look simple and classy with shades of black and grey to contrast against the pop of pattern in the boots. A chunky vintage necklace was the final touch.

A co-worker came into my office, saw me sitting behind my desk and told me that I looked very business-like. I told her thanks, but she couldn't see that the party was on the bottom. I guess she really didn't know what that meant until I got up to leave my desk. Then she was smiling saying "you weren't kidding!" Ahhhh...I love bringing a little glam to the workday.

PFM Obsession: Leopard and Poppy

Here's a list of my fall faves thus far... hmmm I sense a little bit of a pattern.

1. Zara Lace Dress - I've been looking for the perfect lace dress to pair with my tough black motorcycle boots. This could be the one!

2. Madewell Fulton Felt Hat - Loving the camel color and the 70's vibe! Must have!

3. We actually saw these Aldo Leopard Wedge Booties in person, I tried them on and Sesheta agreed that they were swoon-worthy... but not in my budget right now. The print is small and lovely, the wedge is not too high, and they are subtly sexy.

4. Melie Bianco Edith Bag - I am definitely feeling the pop of red, and it would go so well with the leopard booties! As a bonus it's totally affordable and it has a super cute removable chain strap.

5. These Buckled Paddock Boots from Anthropologie already have a spot waiting for them in my closet!

6. Nars Love Devotion Lipstick -So I know that this particular shade has been around for a while now, but I had never actually tried it till recently. It's moisturizing, buildable, and that perfect shade of coral orange that I need right now.

7. This Medusa watch from TOKYObay will satisfy a few cravings- it's red, studded, and the strap can wrap around twice to create a fab layered look with a few bracelets added in.

8. Poppy red skinny jeans. I am already thinking of multiple outfits that will come out of these awesome Mothers .

9. The Addison Story Floral Shirtdress is exactly what I am looking for to layer underneath my fur vest. In fact I would like the entire fall collection from this brand, please.

Daily Outfit: Sassy Cargos

This outfit was put together in anticipation for a birthday dinner with the girls that sadly didn't happen the first time around. Not to worry we recently had a delicious redo that more than made up for it (cuz it's Sesheta's bday all month long...pics and details to come!!!) I was inspired to put a lady-like spin on my skinny cargo pants with a silk ruffle top, bronze ballet flats, and topped it all off with my fave leopard belt. I love how this look turned out feminine with a bit of edge to it. Keeping it short and sweet today, it is Monday after all!
