Daily Outfit: Turq and Peaches

one day, i will get to Turks and Caicos for a fun-filled, relaxed vacation.  right now, my days are filled with the bills of maintaining a house, feeding a family and finding camp tuition.  ... so until that day when i get to the actual place, i am filling my days with the color combos and pattern mixing that will bring me joy.  like this unexpected combo above.  i love the way this electric blue blends with my neon peach shirt.  they are normally two colors that i wouldn't pair together but, when inspiration strikes, there is no telling what will result lol!!  i was pleasantly surprised!  adding my leopard print jeans was just the right bit of "edge" to keep this from being too preppy.  sooo, though i'll keep playing with brights this summer, i'll really be dreaming of being on vacay!!

Daily Outfit: Camo Blues

though i reside in Long Island, i am a New York City Girl at heart.  i grew up all over New York and was totally inspired by the fashion.  when i think back to the early 90's, fashion could be connected to certain items: baggy jeans, Cross Colour clothing, doc martens, Girbauds, sneakers, Polo, North Face jackets, door knocker earrings and camouflage.  it really all depended on where in the city you were at that time.  though i left most of the the 90's fashion behind (like Becca said- only cause my fashion tastes changed not cause age dictated that i do so), some things will never go away.

camouflage is definitely one of them.  though i won't be seen in baggy camouflage pants anymore, these Vanilla Star skinnys work to keep me edgy and still girly.  the ruffles on my shirt also help to tone down the edge as well as keep the look "me" - the perfect balance of both.  you know i had to have some AKBs on (my ass kicking boots - an elder once told me to be sure you always have some of these), cause you just never know lol.  afterall, i still am in New York and you gotta let everyone know that you can't be messed with - especially when it comes to style!

Fresh out of the Workshop: Tribal Fringe Chandelier Earrings in Azure Skies

nothing says fabulous more than a statement pair of earrings.  ...and as far as i am concerned, these do the trick.  not only are the MavenFresh Tribal Fringe Chandeliers, long and dangly, they combine colors in a way that makes them pop.  this is particularly true for a pair in this colorway - Azure Skies.  i recently wore them for our Vanilla Star post.  the coolest thing about these earrings (besides the tribal vibe) is the way they catch the light.  with its faceted beads and swarovski crystals, the Tribal Fringe Chandeliers are bound to be the highlight of any outfit.  wear them casual for day with a tee and jeans or dressy for evening making them the focal accessory for special events .  they are available in this colorway as well as Purple Sunrise (seen here) and Silver Lining - with more combos to come.  stay tuned for when we add these to our shop but, till then, feel free to make your custom order!

PFM Obsession: We Heart Vanilla Star!

Sesheta in the Gray Leopard = swag

Becca rockin' her Tan Leopards!

Becca: It's an obsession, realized! Today marks the first time that Sesheta & I intentionally wore them same item at the same time- usually it's just a happy coincidence! For good reason...we probed, pondered, and then purchased. Leopard print jeans have become a must-have item (click here to play catch up) and I've gotta say that this tan print by Vanilla Star is definitely one of my favorites. The compliments have been flowing all day...who doesn't love hearing that their derriere is looking fantastic in a new pair of jeans? True story.

The tan print goes with so much that it was almost too easy for a look to come together. I went for a bold burst of fluorescent yellow color up top and my ladylike vintage-style pumps at the bottom. A classic black silk blazer immediately makes things more dressy and put-together...a good thing since these leopard beauties were making their debut today at work. The glam MF Black Mamba necklace fell right into place in my color story. These jeans will be a staple in my weekly rotation for sure. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on the gray version too, especially after photographing Sesheta rocking them!

sesheta:  my turn!!! when Becca  posted about her newest obsession, i went straight to the Target site and clicked purchase.  just like that i was obsessed too!  (needless to say, this is not the first, or last item, that we both share in our wardrobe lol.)  animal print skinnies at a suuuuper reasonable price?  how could you say no???!!!

well, as soon as i got them, they just screamed rocker chic to me and that was the inspiration for my styling -   a leather jacket, doc martens and, of course, neon!!  i love the combination of my neon yellow top with the range of blues in my MF Tribal Fringe earrings (stay tuned for the "Fresh out of the Workshop" post featuring these babies).  the gray color is the perfect neutral backdrop for all my neon fantasies... i have already rocked these hotties a few different times and i am head over heels.  i know that Becca wants a pair like mine and i sure wouldn't mind finding a pair like hers... time to stalk ebay!! lol

Daily Outfit: She's Got Lace

Probably not the best idea to go outside and take off your coat when you're getting over a cold, but I did it for the love of lace! Had to show off these cream lace shorts with a rose pink underlay...swoon-worthy. The vintage-inspired high waist and skirt-like shape had me putting them in my online shopping cart in no time. I layered on the sweetness with plum silk ruffles and creamy puff sleeves. My vintage navy peacoat has been a real staple, especially in this unpredictable winter we are having. The hip length is perfect to ward off any chill...no one wants a cold bum!

In unrelated news, I went for it and ordered the previously mentioned Vanilla Star Leopard Jeans. By that time they had a size 3 left, and I knew in my heart they would be too small. My loss can be your gain because I've listed them on eBay. The jeans are now sold out in every size...they were definitely a hot commodity.

PFM Obsession: Leopard Print Jeans...For Less?

the Look
I just stumbled on something that has my finger hovering in the air over my mouse...do I click or do I not click? I have an excessive love for printed denim, in particular for the Current Elliott Leopard Jeans. I wrote about them here. I've been coveting them for some time now, searching eBay for a pair in my size and in my price range. They retail for $200, and I just don't have that money sitting around right now. The neutral grey version would be perfect for transitioning into spring...think about all the solid pastel or neon color sweaters and shirts that you can just throw on and be looking so chic!

And now...the dilemma. These Vanilla Star leopard print jeans are being sold by Target, under $30, they also come in grey and are available online (not in-stores, unfortunately.) I am tempted to go for them and abandon my search for the higher-priced version. What do you think, has anyone tried the Vanilla Stars on? Are you embracing the animal-print denim trend for Spring?
