PFM Obsession: Bathroom Pendant Lighting

I'm officially on the house-renovation-train and not getting off until things are finished. And by finished, I mean that walls are closed up, floors are cleaned up, we have a place to sleep, and at least one bathroom completed. I would especially love it if our home smelled beautiful again (and not like sewage, thank you very much Sandy). This doesn't seem like too much to ask, right? The good news is that we are well on our way with the reconstruction...my hubby and I might be able to move back home before the New Year. High on our to-do list this weekend is to pick out pendant lighting for over the bathroom sink. Under regular circumstances, I totally enjoy the whole design process, but when it's rushed like this how can you not feel a bit of pressure to make the best decisions? So take a look- any opinions will be very happily accepted. The home design inspiration just keeps a-flowing over on our Pinterest boardsxoxo Becca

Ok y'all, here's the color plan for the main floor bath: charcoal walls (Benjamin Moore- Racoon Fur) with yellow and/or deep blue accents. Our tile is picked and ready to go...white subway for the frameless shower walls, and marble hex on the floors. We chose chrome cross-handled faucets and showerhead from Moen (Weymouth)The sink (pedestal?) and mirror will be chosen last, depending on how much space we end up with after the shower is finished. We already have this Kohler medicine cabinet so we will definitely make it work in either in this bathroom or the one in the basement.

1. Regina Andrew Antique Mercury Glass Candy Dish Pendant is both vintage and feminine.
2. Regina Andrew Cage Pendant pulls off industrial yet soft.
3. Glass Bulb Pendant, it's a classic.
4. West Elm Industrial Pendant is glamorous and still simple.
5. Lafitte Pendant- ooh bubble glass. Just not sure about the white cord.
6. Pelle Bubble Chandelier would only happen in my dreams!
7. Capiz Pendant- I love the texture.
8. In Orbit Pendant, known as "hip vintage"
9. Meridian Pendant Lamp has a vintage-modern look.
10. Roost Berlin Pendant Light is another clear glass option with vintage style.

So many lovely options, but I have to choose just one. Are any of you currently in the middle of designing or renovating a bathroom?

PFM Obsession: Flats Loafers & Oxfords, at Target!

Bravo Target, my love for you keeps growing! Sometimes a girl just wants to add to her collection of flats for fall, without breaking the bank. Done and done. I'm appreciating the whole look for less aspect...who doesn't like getting designer style at affordable prices? I became so enthralled while shopping online that the first two pairs somehow ended up at my front door (how did that happen?) and I have to say they are super comfortable. Hint- look for the "buy one, get one half off" deals that Target often has. The only difficult part for you my friends will be deciding which colors to get! xoxo Becca

1. These Mossimo tassel loafers bear a striking resemblance to this pair from Dolce Vita...do y'all agree?

2. Wear glittery gold oxfords with everything from a pleated skirt to boyfriend jeans and a tie-neck blouse. At least, that's what I'll be doing! Madewell has a stunning option here, while Dolce Vita offers a non-sparkle version.

3. Two-tone and cap-toe are both classic styles that aren't going anywhere for a while...just ask the fashionistas at Shopbop and check out this pricier patent pair by Sam Edelman.

PFM Obsession: Inspiration Board

...so my shopping abilities have been seriously curbed lately and it has been quite an adjustment.  though i wasn't insane with it, i did have some room to play.  my playing days seem to be far from returning but that doesn't mean that i'm not drooling for some must have items to add to my wardrobe.  i created this little inspiration board to help organize my current obsessions.  thanks to Net-A-Porter's The Edit, i had plenty to choose from!  though i would love to take home the inspiration pieces, even when my pockets are fatter, i will most likely be unable to justify such extravagant purchases.  if this is the case for you too, be sure to check out my more economical versions of each item.

(from left to right)
Valentino Rock Stud gloves - these are the inspiration pair but i would probably rock these and still feel just as edgy.

Valentino spiked flats - i am feeling the Valentino line!!! love these shoes.  Take the everyday classic flat and bump up the edge with spikes! These are just as fun and way more pocket-friendly!

Tory Burch Peplum Sweater - i love this peplum sweater!! and the bright color is perfect to chase away winter blues! i'm so glad that peplum is in because i love this style. it's such a fun way to add a girly touch to any outfit.  this sweater is just as bright and cute!

Burberry down coat - i am loving Burberry's outerwear.  they have found a way to make a down jacket feminine and cool - all at the same time! this coat is fab in a different way but it would still make a statement and keep me warm!

Miu Miu glitter brogues - i have been looking for the right pair of brogues to add to my shoe collection.  a glittery pair would be right up my alley.  this pair might just do the trick!!

The Row pencil skirt- gasp!  i love this skirt!  the great shape and color makes it so unexpected.  and it's leather!! love that!  this skirt would still be a splurge but it would be timeless addition.

Rick owens leather jacket - who doesn't love Rick Owens style and now it's been updated to the metallic trend.  this jacket has all the style without the price tag.

Day Birger et Mikkelsen pants - this is another item i've been stalking - printed tapered pants.  with my long legs, i can't just buy any pants.  the price of this pair isn't doable but i love these and they would be a great substitution!

ooo, how i wish i could go shopping!! lol, ah well, my birthday is coming up.  maybe i can stash some b-day cash to get at least one of these items sooner rather than later! xo Sesheta

PFM Obsession: Wild Warmth

Sweater weather has got me seeing spots (and tiger stripes.) Recently I'm charmed by anything animal print, and with so many sweater styles and materials to choose from I decided to put together a roundup that's as much for my benefit as it is for yours!

Feeling extra sassy? The rich red and black cheetah print may be calling your name. If you are into more of a vintage vibe, try your luck on eBay...there are plenty of fierce animal print sweaters for auction that are still going strong like the cream one above from the '80s. Although pricey, I can't help but love the second option by Smythe. Not only is it a sweater-jacket combo (endlessly versatile and cozy) but it has a classic vintage-inspired look that you will never get sick of. Leave it to Anthropologie for a swingy cashmere pullover with just a hint of bold print at the short-sleeves. The final cardi from Madewell is my fave...it's a wild yet neutral print that I could pair with most anything already in my closet. Full disclosure: no animals were harmed in the making of this post.

Happy Monday everyone...let me know if you are warming up (pun intended) to the animal print trend, or maybe you already own a special number that's just been waiting for cooler weather to be taken out? xoxo Becca

PFM Obsession: Just One More Pair

photo via Refinery29, text via MavenFresh

The season is a-changing and with it brings a closer look at your wardrobe status. Ladies, I'm talking boots. Even more specifically...black ankle booties with a low heel or a wedge and maybe some buckles. Not exactly easy to find, but I was inspired by this fabulous Fashion Week outfit to peruse a bit. Yep, I realized for sure that there is a void in my closet longing to be filled with a pair of these babies below. You know...something to combine with bare legs and drop waist dresses now, and with tights or printed pants later. Just one more pair.

Have you swapped out your summer clothes for your fall ones in your closet yet? It might officially be that time to get excited about dressing in layers of chunky knits, skinny jeans, and leather jackets. I'm coming to terms with the fact that I may truly be a warm-weather-loving girl whose heart lies with fall and winter fashion. Shhh. xoxo Becca

PFM Obsession: Tights!!!!

though i have been reluctant to accept that fall is here, the one thing that makes me excited is that this is the perfect time of year to pull out tights in all shades and textures!!  tights are such a great way to bring color, sass and a little coverage to your outfit.  ... and if you have been reluctant to try it up to now, shorts and tights are still a great way to show some leg in a classy way (and lots of places have shorts on sale!).  if you missed it the first time, definitely check out this great "Ask The PFMs" post by Becca; it sums up the perfect way to combine shorts and tights to carry you through the fall.

now that the weather has been cooling off, i find myself not ready to give up wearing some of my summer outfits.  bright colored tights like this colbalt pair from Hue are an edgy way to add the perfect pop of color!  i have found myself wanting to wear tights but, unlike my legging collection, the tights i had were lacking oomph; i had the usual black and some lace but i wanted color.  so off to the mall i went.  i started off at Bloomies, but their colors were way too fall like already.  then i headed over to Macy's and i hit the jackpot!!  i had to stop myself from buying a pair in every color!! now i can't stop putting together different ways to wear them!  soo excited and obsession fulfilled! (for now, lol) xo Sesheta

P.S. - too hard to decide on just one or two pairs?  well, purchase a three-pack (like this one from Zappos) so you get a range of colors at a deal plus free shipping!

PFM Obsession: Jemima Kirke

I followed the entire first season of HBO's Girls and was struck by Jessa's sharp wit and free-spirited attitude...but as each episode flew by I found myself completely swooning over her vintage-chic wardrobe. I love finding out that in real-life, Jemima Kirke's personal style inspired her bohemian character's look.

Her signature style revolves around mermaid hairdos, drapey kimonos, floral prints, felt hats, bold peep-toes, and matte lips...with a bit of velvet, feathers, and leather mixed in. I did a little research and was thrilled to realize that Jessa's outfits are actually a combination of vintage pieces and Jemima's own wardrobe. This girl blends effortless, eclectic, and feminine into one charming package...and her lovely British accent is perfection. It can't hurt that Jemima's mom owns a vintage store in NYC called Geminola...ooh I feel a major shopping trip coming up!

Costume designer Jenn Rogien and creator Lena Dunham take the outfit reins for all four girls on the show and I admire that they stay true to the situation surrounding each character. I'm really looking forward next season to see more of Jessa's inspiring looks. You might have heard the rumor that this series is dubbed the new Sex & the City...but the fashion is definitely much more attainable. We are talking Zara, H&M, J.Crew, Anthro, and the Brooklyn Flea...not Manolo Blahnik, Dior, Lanvin, and Ralph Lauren.

Check out Jemima's website...in addition to being an actor, a mother (and my latest style icon!) she is also an artist who creates beautiful paintings. If you are obsessing along with me, here are some pieces to get you started on re-creating her look for the fall season. xoxo Becca

PFM Obsession: Becca's Beauty Fresh Five #1- Fragrance

Since hopping on the green beauty bandwagon, it's been an impulsive couple of weeks full of  sampling, researching, and purchasing a variety of different healthy beauty products. But when it comes to choosing your signature scent, it can be a very personal thing; many ladies (and gents) don't like to stray from what they know and love.

I've come to realize love is a coconut. Drumroll please...the all-natural organic french perfume brand Honore des Pres has made it to our #1 spot on the Fresh Five Beauty Countdown with their concoction of coconut, vanilla, and coriander. Love Coconut is an intoxicating light coconut fragrance that's so fresh and so clean (clean!) This special mix of 100% natural and certified organic essences lasts like a long-overdue nap on a tropical beach, where you're sipping an icy cocktail and melting your cares away in the heat. It's vacation in a bottle...and I plan on extending mine by using this perfume all year round.

I hope this countdown inspired you make some changes in the products you use...there is a healthier side to beauty! xoxo Becca

PFM Obsession: Becca's Beauty Fresh Five #2- Hair

image via Spirit Beauty Lounge
Hi beauties! Bringing you #2 on the Fresh Five countdown today...it's time to show some love for your gorgeous locks! I'm a firm believer that your hair is your cheapest accessory (thank you Beth Jones!) and you have plenty of opportunities to use it to your advantage. So we should take good care of it- right?

Summertime means I'm either fighting frizz or creating beachy waves (usually both at the same time) and I wanted to find an all-natural hair product that can help. After making the conscious decision to green my beauty routine, I discovered the Yarok line of hair care products online at Spirit Beauty Lounge. Yarok means green in Hebrew, and their mission is to make the greatest positive impact on hair and scalp health with the least negative impact on the natural environment. Don't you just love that? The glowing reviews pushed me to try out Yarok Feed Your Roots Volume Enhancing Mousse on my naturally wavy hair. So glad I did! I'm a huge fan of letting my hair air-dry in the summer, and this product has been a lifesaver. I dispense about 2-3 pumps of this lightweight mousse and then use my fingers to squeeze, scrunch and define. My long hair becomes shiny, bouncy, and not at all crunchy. It gives me loose waves that are soft and full of body...no frizz! I've also used it to amp up the volume after my hair was already dry and styled. This is what I consider "hair care"-  a 100% natural plant-based product that actually nourishes my hair, makes it healthier, and *gasp* makes it look good? More please. xoxo Becca

PFM Obsession: Becca's Beauty Fresh Five #3- Body

I've been reading many online articles on healthy beauty lately, in an effort to increase my awareness about the potential harm that can and will result from the use of common beauty products that contain lots of chemicals. If you have any doubts, read this and then let's discuss! It definitely had me thinking about the body's biggest organ- your skin. It's so important...and we should treat it that way! An all-natural exfoliating body scrub is the perfect way to refresh and renew your skin.

via MindBodyGreen

SkinnySkinny Organic Clementine and Clove Body Scrub has become my latest addiction. It has a light and slightly citrusy scent that's mixed with a subtle hint of cloves...a total indulgence that's got summer written all over it!  You will find me looking for any excuse to open the jar and just take a whiff. Made with organic ingredients, and vegan and cruelty-free, this stuff is seriously drool-worthy. Plus my skin has never been softer! Enjoy xoxo Becca

PFM Obsession: Copper Love

gotta love the peacock fanfare earrings by MF!

my fave bracelets by my fave designer, Tasha West

i would love to add this to my collection.  this is the ultimate wonder woman cuff!
tribal and copper - what more could you ask!

this would make the ultimate statement necklace! right in line with fashion trends!
with the popularity of rose gold metal this season, i have renewed my love of copper.  i really love to wear metallics but if i had to choose, i would choose to wear copper metal jewelry all the time.  the issue is that not a lot of current designers make jewelry in copper.  thank goodness for ebay and etsy!!  not only do i love the color, copper (like all metals) has healing properties for the body.  according to Love Is In The Earth by Melody (every gem/crystal/metal lover's bible), copper:

"can combat lethargy, passivity, restlessness, excitability and non-acceptance of oneself. It stimulates initiative, optimism, diplomacy and independence. It emits a philosophic energy, free of orthodoxy and bias. Copper provides a harmonic connection between the physical and astral bodies and aligns the subtle bodies. It has been used successfully to amplify and transmit thought. It is said to be a bestower of good, bringing benefit to its wearer. It opens an activates the base and sacral chakras, advancing and stabilizing the the energies of intuition, sexuality, desire and vitality. It allows one to recognize the barriers which are in the path of ones development. "

...so maybe there is more to just loving copper - maybe i need to invoke the properties of copper and that's why i am drawn to it!  either way, i have entered a period where i feel the need to wear more copper.  and i'm having fun along the way!

TGIF! Have a great weekend! xo sesheta

PFM Obsession: Becca's Beauty Fresh Five #4- Eyes

Hello lovely ladies! After learning about all the ill-effects that these toxic cosmetic ingredients can cause, changes are definitely in order! Next up on the green beauty countdown...#4, eyes. My summer makeup routine is usually very simple (read about my love of a bold lip here) but it isn't complete without a basic black eyeliner. I don't think I'm alone on that! So imagine how excited I was to realize that there's an all-natural beauty essential that's affordable and can be found in most drugstores...yes! Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Eyeliner is free of harmful, synthetic chemicals...it's made with Organic Jojoba Seed oil and Beeswax. Backed by rave reviews from the Green Beauty Team, this healthy beauty product has me ditching my (uber-expensive) Chanel eyeliner for good.

Physcians Formula Organic Wear Eyeliner & Ilia Beauty Neon Angel Lipstick
There are three shades to choose from- I'm loving Black Night Organics, it's black with the most subtle hint of pine green that accentuates your eye color. I'm a big fan, although one recent steamy summer night had me reapplying the creamy line when the temperature hit 100. Overall this eyeliner is gentle, easy to use, and it's been lasting the entire day. More to come... xoxo Becca

PFM Obsession: Becca's Beauty Fresh Five #5- Lips

Get excited, ladies...it's the latest Fresh Five- Green Beauty Edition! I'm counting down my top five favorite beauty products that are not only going to help you look great, they are actually healthy for you and for the environment too.

Sesheta and I recently had the pleasure of attending an event hosted by the Green Beauty Team. We spent an evening learning and celebrating healthy beauty. Inspired by our good friend (and host) Rebecca Casciano, I've been trying to green up my personal beauty routine...one product at a time. Being that I'm so conscious of what I put in my body, why wouldn't I want to be just as aware about what goes on my body? Does this have your mind spinning a bit? Click here for a list of toxic ingredients that has become my new shopping guide.
The Two Rebeccas! Images c/o Green Beauty Team
Lately Rebecca's been rocking a shade of neon pink lipstick that has me smitten. I got the chance to sample this lil beauty delight at the event (with an amazing makeup pro applying it, no less!) Immediately, I loved the way it looked with my skin tone.  Ilia Beauty Lipstick in Neon Angel is my now my go-to for bold summer lip color...expect to see a lot more of it in future outfit posts! In the most perfect highly pigmented shade of punchy pink, it rivals the best-selling brands at Sephora...and as a bonus- it actually keeps lips moist and smooth. Most importantly, when you are licking your lips you won't be worrying about what your body is absorbing and how it's affecting your health. Find your perfect shade online at Spirit Beauty Lounge...and stay tuned for #4! xoxo Becca

PFM Obsession: Black and White

i am usually anything but black and white; i live in the shading between these colors. ...but, recently, i can't seem to get enough of the black and white trend that's popping up everywhere!  whether it's houndstooth or a tribal pattern, i'm on it.  color blocking with black and white can be a great way to tone down brights.  bringing in a solid, bright color is also a perfect way to accent a black and white patterned item. ...or brighten up black and white with colored accessories like a bright shoe and/or bag (and even nails, like i did above).  the possibilities are endless!!

i'm looking forward to working this color combo into the rest of my summer days and well into the fall! xo sesheta

PFM Obsession: Rebecca Minkoff Cheetah Tote

there are two things that i can always count on: 1) the weekend will eventually come and 2) there will always be a bag that inspires obsession lol.  that being said, the latest addition to my bag stalker/bag watcher list is the Rebecca Minkoff Cheetah Canvas Tote.  Becca and i were strolling through Nordstroms when we came upon a display with the pink version.  it was love at first sight!  sigh, i love the print combined with the bright pop of colored leather.  it would be the perfect addition to any outfit.  though i am unable to get this in my possession at the moment,  i will definitely keep my eye out for any sales or discounts because the original price point could be made sweet with dividends off!

Have a great weekend!! xo sesheta

PFM Obsession: Outdoor Living

Can you tell what's been on my mind lately? It might have something to do with this gorgeous weather we are having...or it could be that the top item on our Outdoor To-Do List has finally become reality; we are currently landscaping the front of the house. Ourselves, ha (and it's been mostly physical labor right now...my poor husband.) Our goal is to have a blank slate for a fresh start, and I couldn't be more excited. Of course before we know it, this will also turn into "let's update the front porch" talked about here. Makes sense, as it really is an extension of our indoor living space where we can eat 'n drink, lounge, and entertain. And then, what I'm dying to do is make our small backyard into more of an outdoor room. It's all about creativity and inspiration. There's never a shortage of visual goodness on the net.

If you have any links or ideas for landscaping with a rock garden, send them my way. Now get outside and have a wonderful Friday!

PFM Obsession: J. Crew Love

i have always had a love for J.Crew clothing.  while i am far from the average J.Crew client, they have such great, timeless separates that can be incorporated into any wardrobe!

they recently sent me their latest "Style Guide" (Becca and i love that name) and it had me drooling all the way through!! it was total eye candy from start to finish.  above are some of my favorite picks from the new season's arrivals:

1. you know how much i love bags! a little purse in this fab color would make the perfect accent for a night out.
2. belts, belts, belts! these simple accents are a great way to add a pop of color, especially neon, to an otherwise drab outfit! the problem is choosing only one!
3. *gasp, i looooooove this skirt!!  mixing sequins with colorblocking - totally hard to go wrong!
4. this is a great blazer - perfect for chilly nights or another layer at work.  i would wear this with a white tee and some printed denim.
5. how exciting that it's the time of year to think about being at the beach!! i adore the color and shape of this maillot but is this a swimsuit or a leotard?!  either way, look fabulous on the beach then throw on some shorts and sandals for dinner with friends!
6. the utility pant is so comfortable and the perfect staple in any wardrobe.  make it hot pink and you've just stepped up the game!
7. i love this pair of bright colored skinnies! i have so many ideas for how to wear these...
8. sigh, yes, another bag, but, it's the color that makes this bag droolable (is that a word?? lol).
9. i've been having so much fun wearing shorts.  paired with tights or leggings or bare-legged, this printed pair would be the starting point for great outfits.
10. this is a super cute maxi skirt.  i would want to add both this pretty deep blue or the turquoise version to my collection.

alas, my list could have gone on forever!! this is just a taste of some of my faves.  Becca and i drool over J. Crew items all the time.  if only we could have them all!! hey, a girl could dream! :)

Have a great holiday weekend!!

PFM Obsession: Rose Gold Love

Becca isn't the only one who found a new bag love!  sooo around every mother's day, i get a fabulous bag that is a thank u to me for working so hard as a mommy club member.  this year, with soooo many bag crushes it was totally hard to decide but when i found this baby (which i had been stalking but couldn't find anywhere), it was an instant gotta-have-it moment!! meet the Rebecca Minkoff Circle Quilt Affair Bag with *gasp* rose gold hardware!! if you've been reading our blog, you will know that i have a current obsession (lol, notice i said current) with rose gold hardware (see here) - especially when paired with black leather!  though, like Becca, i love a bright bag, with this bag, i felt the need to tone down the color but up the ante in edge!!  it fits right in with my new angle on style.  lately i've been describing my outfits as classic edgy and this new mama jama fits right in line!

PFM Obsession: Mother's Day, Francophile Style

It's a Mother's Day roundup full of gift ideas to add a bit of French Flair to your loved one's life. Mais oui! This was inspired by my favorite Francophile, my grandma Mimi; I've spent many holidays and birthdays looking for the perfect Parisian gift to give her. She has built up quite the collection by now. It's been a difficult week, I had to say goodbye to Mimi as she is going to live in a nursing home on the west coast. Difficult is an understatement. Mimi has lived close by to me my entire life, and we've never gone more than two weeks without seeing each other. I can't even begin to express how much I will miss her. But I'm lucky enough to have so many memories that will stay with me forever. Love-Love Mimi, and Happy (early) Mother's Day...this post is for you!

1. It's the Trench. Essential for chic Parisian style...an investment piece that will stay with her forever. I love this classic from French Connection.

2. I always throw in a quirky fun gift- this fits the criteria. Mimi loves to sketch and draw, so I think it's a must-have for that aspiring artist!

3. Ooooh a feminine chic French pink-lilac nail color. Can't go wrong.

4. All of these candles have French dessert scents...drool. Coconut macaroons are Mimi's fave! The jars are replicas of vintage Parisian pottery, and so charming that I personally want a few.

5. Mimi said she's going to miss the cats she had at home, so when I came across this shirt I knew it was meant to be. A vintage-style baseball tee with a playful image, labeled Noir- French for black.

6. Etsy has a huge selection of gifts for the Francophile. It was hard to choose between all the jewelry, clothing, and goodies for the home. But this sweet simple pillow would be the perfect touch to send some love to Mimi in her new digs.

7. Joeseph Altuzarra's Parisian inspired collection for J.Crew is now available! These cherry espadrilles are tres chic.

8. Splurge on a set of dinner plates for your hostess with the mostest! These Eiffel Tower Dinner Plates are vibrant, whimsical, and dishwasher safe...woohoo! Another pick from my favorite store- Anthropologie.

P.S. When in doubt, just turn to Chocolat. Not talking about the sweet treats, but (hint hint) who doesn't want to watch Johnny Depp in France?! Mimi and I have watched this movie together a bunch of times and it just keeps getting better. xoxo

PFM Obsession: $esheta's Spring Fresh Five - #1 Rose Gold Hardware

...and the #1 spot goes to...drumroll please... rose gold hardware!!! i am officially in lust with  this trend.  rose gold hardware has been showing up on all the accessories and it has truly struck a chord with me.  i love copper and this is a close sister to copper.  all our fave designers are doing combos of leather and/or metal and rose gold.  i truly believe this may be a unique trend that hasn't come back around.  either way i am hooked.  the below sample pics of rose gold accessories are just the tip of the iceberg, but i definitely find myself wanting more...

Alexander Wang is right on trend and who can resist the Rocco bag?!

soooo cute! this Linea Pelle belt is the perfect finisher for your favorite outfit!

I love these Michael Kors rose gold sneaks!!

Michael Kors got this combo of gray and rose gold  perfect!
hope you enjoyed my Fresh Five.  stay tuned for our Fall/Winter installment featuring hot picks for the season!! xo
