Mani Pedi - Color Club Lava Lamp

i don't think i've had a pedi pic all summer!  i definitely haven't been hiding my toes but the right opportunity hadn't presented itself.  i am trying to get my last hurrah in before the summer comes to an end and it's time to cover the toes again.  what better way to celebrate the warmth than with a neon orange!  Color Club's Lava Lamp is just what the doctor ordered - especially since the weather in NY has been on the cooler side.  while i don't mind the break from humidity, i did miss beach-worthy weather this weekend.  there aren't that many beach weekends left so i hope that the sun gets some inspiration from my nails and brings back some heat! (i hope i don't regret saying that!!). xo sesheta

Daily Outfit: Ombre With a Side of Orange

Sesheta and I love the return of the tie neck blouse...it's so ladylike and classic. This vintage blouse was instant inspiration to my wardrobe. The ombre effect drew me in, and the huge drapey bow sealed the deal! I knew the subtle peachy-coffee tones would be perfect paired with a shot of bright orange and nude pumps. Oooh summer color combo alert! Soft pastels with a pop of color are shaping up to be the season's hottest pair.

PFMs Color Crush: Bright Orange

Pantone 2012 Color of the year - Tangerine Tango

as you know Becca and i have a love affair with color.  we often will have conversations about what colors we are crushing over at a given moment.  there's no telling what sparks a color crush... sometimes it's seeing something in fashion but most of the time, it is usually something that we pick up on right before we see it reflected in the fashion world.  for instance, last fall, i decided that i would love to have an orange bag.  ebay stalking in full effect, i was able to score a pre-owned Marc by Marc Jacobs bright orange tote for a fraction of the original cost.  it literally brightened my day.  i got so many compliments on the color of my bag that i think it brightened other people's day as well.  i have since expanded my affair with orange and i recently found out that Pantone (the "it" place when it comes to color) named the above shade of orange, tangerine tango, 2012 color of the year!   it always makes me wonder if i picked up on the color from the fashion wavelength or if i was actually inspired by something already on the fashion scene.  either way, all that matters is that my color intuition is right on the money.  (too bad that can't help me with lotto lmao!)  i am looking forward to incorporating more shades of orange into my spring and summer wardrobe!!  how about you?

Daily Outfit: Orange You Glad...Spring is in the Air?

Yes, the title of this post is a little bit cliched. I prefer the classic punchline "I didn't say banana." I think of this silly knock-knock joke anytime I wear orange, which isn't too often (whew, right?) But why save the bright colors for when warm weather arrives? We know that spring style is all about color (cue the neon!) and I just can't wait. A burst of bright orange was exactly what I needed to punch up my look. I love how the different prints and tones of brown paired with tangerine and khaki made for such freshness! Finished off with the classic denim jacket. 


This was a weirdly warm day and I was so happy to finally not be shivering while taking pics in the setting sun. Higher temps to come, as tomorrow might actually hit 60 here...yay!

Daily Outfit: Warm Sophistication

 

Orange is Fall's signature color, making you think of jack-o'-lanterns, pumpkin spice lattes, and the changing leaves. The weather has been totally crazy here on Long Island...it's snowing one day and 60 degrees the next. This outfit was worn on one of the only true Fall days we've had so far; I felt it was the right time to debut a new purchase. My tie-neck halter top was a must-have for a few reasons: the orangey maple sugar color, the sweet floppy bow at the neckline, and it can easily be layered up for multiple outfit options.

The cardigan is my alternative to a blazer, and this one in particular is so much fun. I love that it has a tough-girl-yet-still-feminine vibe with a motorcycle jacket-inspired style. Dressed in a warm color palette, I was ready to enjoy a honeyed sunset and some coffee shop deliciousness down in Long Beach.
