Fresh out of the Workshop: Tribal Fringe Chandelier Earrings in Azure Skies
nothing says fabulous more than a statement pair of earrings. ...and as far as i am concerned, these do the trick. not only are the MavenFresh Tribal Fringe Chandeliers, long and dangly, they combine colors in a way that makes them pop. this is particularly true for a pair in this colorway - Azure Skies. i recently wore them for our Vanilla Star post. the coolest thing about these earrings (besides the tribal vibe) is the way they catch the light. with its faceted beads and swarovski crystals, the Tribal Fringe Chandeliers are bound to be the highlight of any outfit. wear them casual for day with a tee and jeans or dressy for evening making them the focal accessory for special events . they are available in this colorway as well as Purple Sunrise (seen here) and Silver Lining - with more combos to come. stay tuned for when we add these to our shop but, till then, feel free to make your custom order!

Fresh out of the Workshop: Regina Goes Gold
![]() |
Mandala Minis in 24kt

Strands in 24kt (so fresh out of the workshop , it still has the strings!!)
Becca's friend, Regina, is one of our best and most loyal clients. by now, i think it may be easier to count the MF items she doesn't have in her collection than the other way around lol... just kidding, but she has made it a point to add quite a few of our pieces to her wardrobe (and we love that!!).
she recently put in a request for two pairs of earrings: a pair of Strands and a pair of Mandala Minis - both in gold. i personally love dangly earrings but gold dangly earrings are pretty darn hot. these earrings are made with beads that have a 24kt finish and gold in this color is oh-so tribal - right in line with the trends of NYFW SS '12. they are destined to be the perfect compliment to any outfit - whether she pairs either of 'em with a little black dress or skinnies and a tee.
hope you love them, Regina!!

Fresh Out of the Workshop: MavenMini - The Tom-Tom
Deep in thought...
Those baby rolls...I'm in love!
Long eyelashes and pouty lips...but he's still such a BOY!
Please...no more papparazzi!!!
This is not just a shameful ploy to show off the cuteness that is my new little nephew. Or is it? It was a hat created with lots of love for the soon-to-be newborn Thomas...appropriately named the Tom-Tom. Two big pom-poms for a special little Tom-Tom! I was inspired to go with traditional blue and cream for this cap, because I just knew that this baby would be the epitome of boy. We were supposed to have actual winter weather here in NY (not that I'm complaining!) and a little guy's winter wardrobe isn't complete without a skullcap.
Sure enough, he was born and exceeded expectations in so many ways. Tommy is too cute, too good, too lovable. And so big. He didn't even fit into newborn diapers, and he definitely wasn't fitting into the newborn sized Tom-Tom hat I had originally made for him. No problem, I recreated it bigger so that he could grow into it...and of course, model it! Here is Tommy's debut... I think he has a strong modeling career ahead of him. And this is not just a ridiculously proud aunt talking. But if you ask his parents, they will most likely say "football player." Ha.
The Tom-Tom is available in our store, and it can be made to order for little gals too!

Fresh Out of the Workshop: the Bow Skull Cloche
I undeniably have a love for things that are a blend of vintage and modern...and you already know all about my ongoing hat love...these two loves inspired me to create this new crocheted accessory. I'm obsessed with 1920s fashion and all you have to do is turn on an episode of Boardwalk Empire to see why. The glitz and the glam!!! Gorgeous glittery drop-waist dresses and detailed beaded headbands...and a classic cloche was often the best bet. Sesheta and I are always rocking a bit of glitz 'n glam, yes- even for daytime. Embrace your girly side with this vintage-inspired twist on the traditional skull cap. The Bow Skull Cloche is lightweight enough that you can wear it indoors, and the oversized bow can be worn in the back or on the side...it's your call.
PS the rich color combo of bright red & royal purple is a favorite of mine!

Fresh out of the Workshop: MavenMini - The Ellie

swoon...William Ellington "Ellie" Jones

the dapper don lol
i just love this removable decoration!
here is the first creation that resulted from my latest inspiration. this little hat was made and named for my brother's son, who is celebrating his first birthday this week. when i was creating the design for it, i really channeled the warrior spirit of this little man. i knew that whatever the design, this crown had to be worthy for a prince. the result is this ode to a bowler/trilby/fedora. the colors are reminiscent of nature and camoflauge to represent the strength of a warrior (he is growing up in brooklyn after all lol). orange is a regular contrast color that i use with camo. i love this burnt orange for its pop of brightness and i think it's perfect for a little boy. to make it officially stylin', i added the fun decoration above of "leaves" and feather, drawing again from my inspiration source. ...and there you have The Ellie!
when The Ellie made its debut at the party, it got such a great reaction that you can now order it directly from our store! love it!!!

Fresh Out Of The Workshop: Black Mamba Necklace
It's here, it's here! Something that I'm very excited to introduce- a mixed media piece born out of our love of crochet work and sparkly details... the Black Mamba Necklace. All of these contrasting materials are working in harmony to create something unique and modern with a boho vibe. Plus the namesake Black Mamba knew how to kick ass and rock black & yellow fashion like no one's business ha!
Now more than ever we are seeing chunky, bold statement necklaces being worn with everything from flannel button downs to v-neck tees, and it only goes to show this style ain't just for evening anymore! This classic neutral combo of black 'n gold will be a wardrobe staple, and it happens to be a favorite mix of ours. If anyone owns a luxe black leather handbag with gold hardware, then you know exactly what I mean!
I've been wearing mine on it's own and also layered up with another longer necklace from my collection. I can definitely foresee many different versions of this style in both necklaces and bracelets coming to fruition in the near future...inspiration is a beautiful thing!!!

Fresh out of the Workshop: the custom MavenMini Earflap hat Part II
so here it is!! the final product from our custom order mentioned in this post. i just love the gradation of purples!! it is sooo adorable! i hope it makes the little girl who wears it just as happy as it made me to make it! :) i really enjoyed making it in these saturated purples cuz we totally think that pastels for baby are a thing of the past! the best thing is that this brightly colored yarn is machine washable (a very important feature for crocheted/knitted items) so it makes it extra functional for new parents! hmmm... i might have to make a hat for myself in this colorway! lol
p.s MavenMini items range from hats, blankets, cocoons, booties, headbands, mittens. and more for boys and girls!!

Fresh Out of the Workshop: The Divine Turban Headband
This latest design came to be out of the desire for a stylish, vintage-inspired accessory that would keep ears warm and hairstyles in tact. Since I tried to shop vintage and couldn't find exactly what I wanted, it was time to create a la MavenFresh. Ta-da, introducing the Divine Turban Headband! It's cut wide and made of a lusciously soft fuzzy blend of mohair, alpaca, cashmere, and wool. So it's totally indulgent, and you deserve it. Turbans are taking on many different forms these days, but can they get you through cold-weather months in high-fashion style like this one can?!! Keep in mind this is not just a piece for outdoor wear; put on a blouse and some shiny jewelry and you're perfection at the office. If you're going to be prancing outside in the chilly air, pair it with a cocoon coat...this turban is divine!
I'm such a hat girl and this just adds to my growing number of toppers. And now you can get a head start on building up your own collection. This will be available in more colors, just click here and visit our etsy shop. You know you want to.

Fresh out of the Workshop: the custom MavenMini Earflap hat
my youngest modeling an earflap hat
i'd buy whatever he was selling lol
though our blog focuses mainly on jewelry and accessories for women, i'm not sure if all of you know that we also have a line for children called MavenMini. these items are usually crocheted goodies for babies, toddlers and older kids. there was a time that the demand for our MavenMini items had us wondering if we should be doing primarily children's items!! then we realized that we wouldn't have any fun stuff for us to wear! lol either way, our MavenMini stuff can be the most fun to make. why? cause everything is cuter in small sizes!!
today's post is about a custom order that we just received today for an infant (girl) earflap hat. i couldn't resist the chance to post the above pics of my little one modeling a boy version of the hat. like i said, this order is for a baby girl. one of our loyal clients requested that it be made in purples (yay!). off Becca and i went in search of the perfect yarn. we were lucky and found exactly what we were looking for... so now it's time to create! i can't wait to see the end results!! stay tuned to see how it turns out!
p.s. i've renamed "Hot out of the Workshop" to "FRESH out of the Workshop" because, duh, that makes sooo much more sense!!! hope you agree!

Hot out of the Workshop: Open Weave Crochet Triangle Scarf in Fiery Twilight
And then there were no rules...it was so much fun, I was like a kid playing dress up in my closet. Long easy layers were what I wanted to wear, I think the drapey fringe-tastic-ness of the scarf brought out the bohemian in me.
I was super excited to finish up and debut the latest color version of our Triangle Scarf. We were inspired by the colors of autumn, and definitely feeling the rich warm tones in this yarn. Our lovely friend Laura pre-ordered one of these creations and was the first to rock it (even before Sesheta and I, woohoo!) Although she was originally looking for something with orange as the dominant color, the various shades of Fiery Twilight won her over. I think you may fall for it too! Have a lil peek and see more pics in our etsy shop...and happy Friday.
