Fresh Out of the Workshop: The Divine Turban Headband

This latest design came to be out of the desire for a stylish, vintage-inspired accessory that would keep ears warm and hairstyles in tact. Since I tried to shop vintage and couldn't find exactly what I wanted, it was time to create a la MavenFresh. Ta-da, introducing the Divine Turban Headband! It's cut wide and made of a lusciously soft fuzzy blend of mohair, alpaca, cashmere, and wool. So it's totally indulgent, and you deserve it. Turbans are taking on many different forms these days, but can they get you through cold-weather months in high-fashion style like this one can?!! Keep in mind this is not just a piece for outdoor wear; put on a blouse and some shiny jewelry and you're perfection at the office. If you're going to be prancing outside in the chilly air, pair it with a cocoon coat...this turban is divine!

I'm such a hat girl and this just adds to my growing number of toppers. And now you can get a head start on building up your own collection. This will be available in more colors, just click here and visit our etsy shop. You know you want to.

Fresh out of the Workshop: the custom MavenMini Earflap hat

my youngest modeling an earflap hat

i'd buy whatever he was selling lol

though our blog focuses mainly on jewelry and accessories for women, i'm not sure if all of you know that we also have a line for children called MavenMini.  these items are usually crocheted goodies for babies, toddlers and older kids.  there was a time that the demand for our MavenMini items had us wondering if we should be doing primarily children's items!! then we realized that we wouldn't have any fun stuff for us to wear! lol  either way, our MavenMini stuff can be the most fun to make.  why? cause everything is cuter in small sizes!!

today's post is about a custom order that we just received today for an infant (girl) earflap hat.  i couldn't resist the chance to post the above pics of my little one modeling a boy version of the hat.  like i said, this order is for a baby girl.  one of our loyal clients requested that it be made in purples (yay!).  off Becca and i went in search of the perfect yarn.  we were lucky and found exactly what we were looking for... so now it's time to create!  i can't wait to see the end results!! stay tuned to see how it turns out!

p.s.  i've renamed "Hot out of the Workshop" to "FRESH out of the Workshop" because, duh, that makes sooo much more sense!!!  hope you agree!

Hot out of the Workshop: Peacock Fanfare Earrings

i'm baaaack!! can't say i'm totally well-rested (no such thing) but i definitely feel much better than i did when i last posted.  the best thing about being reFRESHed is that it also means you can be more creative!!

that brings me to the topic of today's post- the newest item out of the MF workshop- the peacock fanfare earrings.  i just love peacock feathers!!! they are so pretty and colorful.  they have been a staple in accessory design forever but have made an even stronger comeback recently.  the cut of these feathers are so playful; i really enjoy how simple and elegant they are.  the copper chain adds edge and complimentary crystals add bling.  despite the fact that these earrings are literally light as a feather, they still make an impact as part of any outfit!  pick yours up today by visiting our shop!

Hot out of the Workshop: Lush Loops Collar

A collar can be a total fashion statement, a finishing detail, or a just a lovely addition to keep you warm. This one is all of the above! Introducing our latest creation, the Lush Loops Collar. It has a touch of vintage charm that we love so much. Crocheted by hand to appear a little bit furry, and a little bit fleecy, this could be your favorite accessory for the season. We're going to layer it over brightly colored wool coats, shrunken denim jackets and maybe even a dress or two. The collar is available in our etsy shop; be sure to order yours now for shipping in time for the holidays!

A few weeks ago I was browsing the sale section at the Gap and spotted this speckled tweed jacket in a rich cobalt blue. I knew immediately it would be the perfect compliment for my then work-in-progress collar. The jacket's rounded neckline ensured that Lush Loops would be the focus of the outfit. A friend of mine actually thought that that the collar was attached...that's what I call a successful pairing! Rich colors, lush collars, and a variety of layers- it's how to do ladylike the modern way!

Hot out of the Workshop: Open Weave Crochet Triangle Scarf in Fiery Twilight

It all started with my cobalt blue tights that matched the crystals in this scarf so perfectly. Bling!

And then there were no rules...it was so much fun, I was like a kid playing dress up in my closet. Long easy layers were what I wanted to wear, I think the drapey fringe-tastic-ness of the scarf brought out the bohemian in me.

I was super excited to finish up and debut the latest color version of our Triangle Scarf. We were inspired by the colors of autumn, and definitely feeling the rich warm tones in this yarn. Our lovely friend Laura pre-ordered one of these creations and was the first to rock it (even before Sesheta and I, woohoo!)  Although she was originally looking for something with orange as the dominant color, the various shades of Fiery Twilight won her over. I think you may fall for it too! Have a lil peek and see more pics in our etsy shop...and happy Friday.

Hot out of the Workshop: Feather Fancy Earrings

so i haven’t posted in a while cuz i’ve been busy celebrating my birthday (which was on 10/10).  unfortunately, unlike Rebecca, i am horrible at remembering to document my travels.  this means i don’t have any fun pics to share of my birthday escapades…boo.  the only thing that i have that commemorates my special day is this pair of earrings.

after enjoying the beautiful weekend weather and hanging with friends the day before, i was totally thrilled to spend my actual b-day doing absolutely nothing.  when i say nothing, i mean laying on my couch (yes, despite the beautiful 80-something degree weather outside), catching up on tv and enjoying my free time.  when i decided it was time to do something “productive”, i whipped together this fabulous new style of feather danglies.  i’ve dubbed them Feather Fancy.  though feathers are def not new to MF, this new style is influenced by the current trend of feather hair clips and earrings.  i just love how the asymmetrical style and Swarovski crystals add some modern edge to the ancient art of feather adornment!  happy birthday to me!! as you can see they are already inspiring fun wardrobe combinations!!

if you want to add a pair of these lovelies to your MF collection, be sure to check out our etsy shop to grab one of these limited edition pairs!

oh yeah, by the way, i’ve got some more fashion history for you too - feathers in the hair have been around since the days of the Turtle Island people (commonly known as native americans)!  don’t you just love how trends just recycle over and over!
