Daily Outfit: Silk Pleats and Flowers

...so, i finally found some (affordable) floral print denim that i liked!! thanks to H&M, i am able to join Becca in this fun trend.  though i was nervous about the cream background, the color combo of teal, pinks and yellows, made them irresistable!!  it also gave me an excuse to rock more neon but softened by my silk pleated blouse that i love (and hardly get to wear).  i'm so excited!! can't wait to wear these over and over again :) xo sesheta

PFM Styling: Kyoto Japanese Maxi Dress, Take 2

Sometimes you have to celebrate a dress in style. Sesheta passed on this gift to me from Sugarlips, and wearing it beach-side seemed to be the perfect way to pay tribute. The sheer floating layers on the Kyoto Japanese Maxi Dress kept the look fresh in the heat. It was a gorgeous evening...the setting sun...the waves...and the dress caught the breeze just right. At first I wasn't sure how to make this piece work for me, but I was totally inspired by the bold print and decided to give it a splash of warm-weather glam. Vintage wooden bracelets, a sleek twisted ponytail with tousled waves, and dangling gold earrings are all I needed to easily go from walk on the beach to dinner date. Side note: I love going barefoot but it seems shoes just had to be required for dinner! xoxo Becca

PFM Styling: Sugarlips Kyoto Japanese Maxi Dress

i feel like Becca and i are officially bloggers now.  why do i say that? well, we have received our first freebie just for doing what we love best - styling clothing and blogging about it!! how cool is that?!?

we'd like to introduce you to the Kyoto Japanese Maxi Dress c/o Sugarlips.  i love this dress!! for me, the best part about this dress is the color combination.  i love the teal and shades of pink in the flowers.  i also love the play on length with the short slip underneath the longer sheath on top.  there are so many ways you can wear this dress but i chose to wear a hot pink bandeau underneath for a pop of color.  then i added some of my fave accessories at the moment - my nude pumps, turquoise studded hoops and bangles galore on my wrist.  i wore my hair in a top knot so that i could show off the full dress as well as keep cool.  though i wore this dress for a day at the office, it would be perfect for a night out on the town.  i can't even count the number of people who told me they loved my dress! it's one thing when you feel like you are looking fresh but when others notice it too, it just sweetens the deal! :) xo sesheta

P.S. the fun part about being a fashion duo is that Becca and i get to share the goodies!  i can't wait to see how she styles it!

Daily Outfit: Laced in Violets

who says lace is just for streetwalkers??!!  i love the fact that lace was recently reclaimed by the fashion world and made to be classic and edgy! that was my goal for this outfit.  though many have put their lace tights away, i am still loving mine.  they were the perfect addition to add edge and coverage to make these cute floral-print vintage shorts office ready.  is this your average office attire? well...no. ...but you should know by now that my style choices are anything but average lol.  ... and i would totally do it again!

Daily Outfit: Garden Party in the Rain

This gloomy day became a bit brighter thanks to my floral gams! Last seen here, these jeans are officially on heavy wardrobe rotation. Oooh, can I tell you a little story about the jacket that almost wasn't? Before I could overpay mindlessly on eBay in an attempt to score this sold-out jacket, Zara ended up restocking it online. Yay! I've worn it countless times since it showed up at my doorstep. I can't resist safari styling with leather sleeves...meanwhile this piece has replaced my classic trench in rain or shine! Spring staples are something to get excited about, don't you think?

Daily Outfit: Floral Denim Theory

Hmmm...pants that look like leggings but are actually skinny denim, and match about a hundred items I already own...I just had to make them mine. Depending on the print, floral denim can be both girly and edgy. Although it's kind of hard to find both of those attributes in one pair of jeans, it seems the Garden Party print is where it's at! Lately I've had floral denim on my mind...so after looking over several contenders it was hard to pick just one. It helps to go with the old trusted rule of closet theory: if the item in question matches at least 5 pieces in your current wardrobe, it's a safe purchase. Now I didn't say I swear by this rule, but I do try pretty hard to follow it. These are fun jeans that I can live in, so be prepared to see much more of them other than just on this particularly windy day! Are you currently craving a floral denim print...what's your favorite pair?

Daily Outfit: Party Palazzos

I remember experimenting with fashion back in my high school days, browsing through the vintage treasures in my grandma Mimi's closet. She would coaxingly ask if I wanted to have any of her many pairs of printed palazzo pants. I would give a quick no thanks, thinking they were too busy and I'd much rather just continue to drag the bottoms of my super flared dark denim jeans along the floor (that I purchased from the local flea market and wore non-stop.) Umm it seems 16-year-old-me didn't know what she was passing up! Although I may have missed out on some sweet vintage options, this pair from Forever 21 are perfection. They are silky soft and oh-so-comfy. I wore this outfit over the weekend to a birthday party during some lovely 70 degree weather. The wide-leg floral pant can be extremely flattering, even (gasp!) on petite ladies. Stripes and florals totally play well together; the key is to keep the palette down to a similar hue so that the results are not distracting. My platform peep-toes were a must, seeing as I hemmed these babies myself to make them just skim the floor. Is it me, or do I look taller? In case you were wondering, nowadays there's not a wide-leg floral pant that I say no to!

PFM Obsession: Spring has Sprung with DVF!

this fun "jumpsuit" is actually a two-piece!

DVF is known for her wrap dresses and maxi too?!! LOVE it!!
this really is a jumpsuit - that wraps in the front...
and criss crosses in the back! tre chic!
flirty skirts are uber-feminine!

there's something in the air that let's us know that spring is here.  despite my doubt and trepidation, the vernal equinox has arrived and, technically, it really is spring. i keep feeling like it's too good to be true... especially because the weather has not only just switched over (seemingly overnight) but it has also jumped to such high temperatures.  i hope it doesn't sound like i'm complaining because that totally isn't the case.  i guess i'm just in disbelief that winter went off without really leaving it's mark.  i told Becca today that maybe my desire to have weather like this all the time has really come true!!

well, nothing says spring more that drapey, loose, fabulous clothing.  when i received an email today from Shopbop showcasing items from Diane von Furstenberg's spring line, it made me yearn for my spring/summer wardrobe.  though i'm still doubtful that it's really time to switch out those winter clothes, i definitely enjoy DVF's super feminine take on spring's trends.  i will rarely choose prints but when i do gravitate to a pattern it usually isn't floral.  i am definitely a girly girl but something about floral has always meant prissy to me.  well, Diane has totally proven otherwise with her fun floral prints.  from pants to dresses to skirts, i am ready to make more than a few pieces mine!!
