PFMs on the Town: Cafe Cluny

Allagash Shandy & a Bellini- yum!

The West Village has restaurants and boutiques around every corner. On the weekends, brunch is a luxury enjoyed by many...and Cafe Cluny is a great spot to indulge yourself. It's not only known for having one of the best brunch menus in the city, but it has delicious vegetarian options and you are almost guaranteed a celebrity sighting (if you are into that sort of thing.) I stopped by with my husband for brunch after having a much-need fresh haircut (pics are coming soon!) My man was on a mission for the Short Rib hash, which he claimed was definitely worth the trip in. I was excited about the special which was the Heirloom Tomato sandwich; absolutely fantastic with a bonus side of greens topped with delicious dressing. We were expecting a wait, but got seated immediately. It would have been worth a wait for sure. Oooh and who did we spot leaving the restaurant before we did? The gorgeous Lake Bell who was just so laid-back chic in a blazer, skirt and dark tights. So glad we had the window seat!

Daily Outfit: Native Plum

ahh... the ease of throwing on something in the morning and still feeling glammed up is a wonderful thing.  this is one of those days when a tiny bit of effort produces a great look.

Becca and i have been seeing references to a tribal trend in fashion; for me this trend is a way of life!  i woke up feeling like wearing my native chandeliers in the pretty duo of plum accented by bright orange.  they are definitely the focal point of the look (it's so hard to believe that i made them eight years ago).  i love how a pair of earrings in the right color combo can dictate a whole outfit!!  the rest of the outfit just fell into place.  i thought that the chain belt added an element of sweet to my tough - especially when paired with a studded cuff and motorcycle booties.  as for the acid wash denim leggings, you should know by now how i love to blend styling!  plus, it makes it so modern vintage!

ps. enjoy the fabulous weekend! i am super excited that the most high decided to heat things up for my b-day weekend! that's what i call a great gift! :)

Daily Outfit: Tribal Vibe

I am definitely feeling that tribal vibe along with Sesheta for fall! Color and texture greatly influence my decision to buy or not to buy, and I was immediately drawn to this knit dress based on the hot color combo of red and beige. Oh I remember the moment that I laid eyes on this dress stuck randomly on a rack, it was the standout Aztec print in a sea of solids. It happened to be my size and oh-so-lonely.

Styling up this dress gets me very inspired, there are so many directions to go in. Swayed by the colors of autumn I had to bring some olive green into the mix with my tights. The extravagance is in the fringe- and it's earrings this time around! I love the movement and the bright yellow gold shimmer that these earrings bring...and I feel fierce everytime I put them on. This dress gets compliments from both females & males...not bad right?!! It just must be the burst of color that rocks everyone's world!

Daily Outfit: Fringe Benefits

i had fun making my fringe shimmy lol

the look sans denim jacket

this vintage Lord and Taylor beaded belt was the perfect accent to add some bling!

can you tell that i adore my moccasin boots?  my goal during this shoot was to demonstrate the movement of the fringe.  this explains my twists and jumps! lol, it was hard to choose what pics to share!  i am such a tribal girl at heart; you can see it in my styling as well as in my designs.  these boots are a perfect way to add some native chic to an otherwise plain jane outfit.  (well, that is if u can call lemon yellow and chartreuse plain jane! lol). the shading of colors on my Crochet Cabbage Bloom flower just floats my boat!  i loved the excuse to  dress down this vintage beaded belt– a super find at a thrift store in Houston.  like Becca, i added denim - a retro take on the moto jacket- to my look to keep it a nice blend of styles. (i don’t like being categorized  - i can be classic, boho, edgy and comfortable - all in one look!) i chose to keep it simple when it came to the earrings – just a drop of pineapple!  i think i just found my tried and true outfit!

Daily Outfit: Layers of Charm

This was a glorious Friday that started out sunny and warm, and ended up with a torrential downpour that had me running for cover in my suede wedges. Oops. Ahhhh, the unpredictability of early October.

I love floral prints and although this vintage skirt is slightly sheer, I had a simple solution that did not require a slip: tuck in a tunic dress! This fitted tunic doesn't get out much because let's face it, it's quite tight and clingy. And you have to worry about wearing the right undergarments in order to feel confidant that there aren't any strange goings-on in certain areas. Instead it became the perfect puffed shoulder top to tuck into this skirt that is so tight around my ribcage that I was worried about making it through a day of work and out to dinner without having to unzip it. Apparently in the past people had much tinier waists. Please note that this won't stop me from collecting many more high-waisted skirts because they are just so darn pretty. I added a little denim to my floral, and some modern to my vintage with my neon green Elliptical Earrings. Keeping it fresh and charming!

PFM Obsession: Urban Decay NAKED palette

Naked Palette
Swoon - our latest conquest from Sephora!
okay, did i mention that i love anything pretty?  that means i am a sucker for good presentation.  well, in the case of this palette from Urban Decay, it was definitely the presentation and my obsession for make-up that made this a must-have.  Becca coerced me (lol she def didn't have to try very hard) into going to Sephora for new lipstick.  after both of us tried on many different shades of lip color, we stumbled upon this little baby.  this palette is not for the faint at heart; it boasts 12 neutral shades of fabulousness.  as i have done many times before, i put the palette in my basket while we shopped around cause i was still "thinking" about whether or not it made sense to make it mine.  after a few rounds of the store, and two lipsticks in my basket later, we approached the check out line and i was faced with making an ultimate verdict.  what was the final game-time decision? not only did i buy the palette, but Becca, who was just as head over heels as i was, got one too!  i can't wait to try it out!! we'll keep you posted!!

ps. did i mention that it also came with a travel size Urban Decay Eyeshadow primer??!! yay!!

Daily Outfit: Classic Drama

I love the drama of a long dress. This simple maxi is the perfect blank canvas that can be reinvented over and over with a change of shoes or the swap of an accessory. This dress might be one of the only Anthro purchases that I just had to have at full price! Feeling effortlessly chic, I went with a textured natural undone hairstyle. A burst of orange on my lips was the vibrant contradiction to the dark tone of the dress. What will it be next time around?

(Mantle Dynamics Dress- Anthropologie,  Necklace- Vintage, Suede Wedges- Sam Edelman Nikola)

Side note...for those of you ladies who feel they are not tall enough to pull off a maxi dress, I am here to say stop denying yourselves! I am only 5'5" and I never underestimate the power of a little heel.
