Daily Outfit: Sequins and Stripes

This outfit just kinda came together harmoniously piece by piece, starting with the hat. I cherish this vintage sequined cap, for a few reasons. One is that it's just so darn super stylish and makes me feel instantly glam. Two is that it was handmade by my grandmother years and years ago (maybe even the 1930s), which just goes to show that fashion sense & creativity run in my family- yay haha! And those shimmery paillettes... swoon! I was inspired to go with a preppy chic vibe and decided to pull out this striped tunic tee, and pair it my Level 99 khaki skinnies, and my bow-embellished flats. They added the perfect feminine touch to contrast with the toughness of the denim vest. I also just love to layer- hello fall! This completes the first of many looks for this season...what's your favorite piece for the fall?

Daily Outfit: Nude Glow

Hello Friday! It's been a jam-packed work week and I can't wait to catch up with close girlfriends for a relaxing dinner tonight. And some vino!

And now on to my outfit- I've searching for a while for a nude color floaty chiffony skirt to take me from end of summer through winter. Yup I saw all the versions over at American Apparel, but they just didn't do it for me. I almost caved in and bought (a really expensive) one from Anthro, but my wallet and conscience were telling me to run the other way. Good things come to those who wait! I recently found this purty skirt in Macys on sale for $25. After throwing down my trusty store credit, it was free. YAY! I had the urge to kick and twirl in this outfit, especially when the little silver studs on my top were shimmering in the light. I put my hair into a high ballerina bun topped with my sparkly Vintage Applique headband. It has a little touch of peach-nude in it to compliment the skirt. Did I mention I like glittery things?

Daily Outfit: Eclectic Orange and Argyle

Can I please direct your attention to my favorite summer jacket...meet my Juicy Couture puff sleeve blazer. She has been in my life for 8 years, occupied my washer and dryer countless times, and I think she actually was my first ebay win for$25- can't even get over it! The color is a versatile staple and the fit will never be something that I tire of. Cheers to that! What's your amazing buy that you have loved for years and years?

These linen shorts had to come out of the closet for a last hurrah before the cooler weather. I love that the print is reminiscent of argyle, or even ikat depending on how you look at it. For the final touch I slid on my bright orange bloom-adorned headband. It feels casual but gussied up at the same time! I am loving this color story, as you can tell by my big smiles.

Daily Outfit: Beachy Keen

Saturday may have been the last real beach day before the weather starts cooling down and I was determined to make the most of it. Can't let the partly sunny-partly cloudyness get me down! I bring you my beach casual outfit. Nothing like a super soft flowy Rachel Pally maxi dress for a late summer day. Add a straw hat and I am ready to go. My man and I cruised down to the beach to check out the last of the Quiksilver Pro festivities...and to wiggle my toes in the sand as much as possible. We even got to see some of the amazingly talented girls of the Roxy team in action. Followed it up with a late lunch at the local creperie- I love days like this!

All in all, it's been such a lovely summer that went by too fast. And remember when I told you earlier that surfing is something that I have never ever tried? Well a couple of weeks ago I entered this contest at my yoga studio to win a surfboard and a prize package from ZICO and guess what? Is karma trying to tell me something? I don't know if I was more excited about the win or that Joseph Encinia ( 2011 World Yoga Champion) posed with us for the pic! Side note: please ignore the fact that I am a sweaty mess... the reps presented me with the board AFTER class was finished. How convenient! Haha thanks to ZICO and to my friends at Bikram Yoga LB! The studio is beautiful, the people who work there will become your friends, and trust me, it will change your life. Go there now.

Daily Outfit: Loco Legs

i think i can blame the late hour or maybe it is just my love of children's television.  it definitely doesn't hurt that i have a 3 year old who helps me stay current.  one of his favorite shows is the Fresh Beat Band.  i can't even lie - the first time i saw this show, i was mesmerized by the music and catchy lyrics.  well, my outfit today and the silly time i had with snappin pics, reminded me of one of the best songs from this show - Loco Legs.  one of the main characters is so excited to perform at school, his legs start to move all crazy-like, hence the name loco legs lol.  some may say that leggings have run their course as a fashion trend but i'm not giving mine up just yet.  wearing leggings in an awesome print like these from Rachel Pally (a super find on eBay) are a great way to add edgy and comfort to your day.  i have really long legs so the leggings accentuate their length.  it totally inspired my loco leg poses :).  i paired the leggings with an off-the-shoulder tunic top and though i was super comfy today, i still looked put together. my clog sandals help to dress up the look and it didn't hurt to have my strands II earrings (one of my personal MF faves) and my black tulle bow headband (freshly made) to bring it all together! i got, i got, i got loco legs! (that's for all the mommys out there lol).

PFM Mani Pedi- Skinny Jeans

The name may have sold me on these before anything else... ahhhh Skinny Jeans. Back in May I jumped on the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips bandwagon. Without sounding too much like a commercial, let me just give you some reasons to try them: they stay on for like 10 days- 2 weeks...yay! They are easy to apply and don't have a smell like nail polish does. And you will get tons of compliments on them because of the fun patterns and colors they come in. This is all purely my personal opinion.

I thought the navy blue denim pattern would be a nice way to slowly transition into fall. Best part is that when they start to chip it's barely noticeable! I love the look of a patterned mani and solid pedi. My jewel-tone violet toes that you can barely see are Essie Big Spender. I will leave you with a tip- don't subject the nail strips package to extreme heat before applying (i.e. leaving them in your car on a 90 degree day). They will loose their stickiness.

Daily Outfit: Retro Sorbet

There's nothing better than scoring the "one that almost got away". I was in Anthropologie, browsing the sale section as per usual. I came across this skirt, it was the only one left and happened to be in my size. It was on sale for $20; originally $150. I loved the color, the high-waist vintage inspired style, and the way it fit. So I did the only obvious thing there was to do; I left it there. Yes, that's right I walked out without buying anything. And then I obsessed about it in my mind for the entire car ride home and all through my bikram yoga class (not good when you are trying to be focused). I was real busy planning outfits based around an item that I didn't own. Finally that night I caved in and called the store, it was still there and luckily they put it aside for me to purchase. Cue sigh of relief (also noted that I might be a little bit crazy). So much for trying to be good, but honestly it was a must-have don't you think?*

Paired with a simple white tee and cognac slingbacks, I was feeling fabulously retro chic! My MavenFresh triangle scarf was the icing on the cake- it's super easy to wear and drapes so well. We tried to capture the subtle sparkle created by the hand-sewn gold crystals...bling!  And you better believe this "sorbet" pencil skirt will still be seen out & about with tights/boots in the cooler days coming up.

*Being that I recently re-confirmed to myself that there should not be any new purchasing of clothing/bags/shoes until further notice, I had no business even being in Anthro. Ha that went well.
