Daily Outfit: Loco Legs

i think i can blame the late hour or maybe it is just my love of children's television.  it definitely doesn't hurt that i have a 3 year old who helps me stay current.  one of his favorite shows is the Fresh Beat Band.  i can't even lie - the first time i saw this show, i was mesmerized by the music and catchy lyrics.  well, my outfit today and the silly time i had with snappin pics, reminded me of one of the best songs from this show - Loco Legs.  one of the main characters is so excited to perform at school, his legs start to move all crazy-like, hence the name loco legs lol.  some may say that leggings have run their course as a fashion trend but i'm not giving mine up just yet.  wearing leggings in an awesome print like these from Rachel Pally (a super find on eBay) are a great way to add edgy and comfort to your day.  i have really long legs so the leggings accentuate their length.  it totally inspired my loco leg poses :).  i paired the leggings with an off-the-shoulder tunic top and though i was super comfy today, i still looked put together. my clog sandals help to dress up the look and it didn't hurt to have my strands II earrings (one of my personal MF faves) and my black tulle bow headband (freshly made) to bring it all together! i got, i got, i got loco legs! (that's for all the mommys out there lol).

PFM Mani Pedi- Skinny Jeans

The name may have sold me on these before anything else... ahhhh Skinny Jeans. Back in May I jumped on the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips bandwagon. Without sounding too much like a commercial, let me just give you some reasons to try them: they stay on for like 10 days- 2 weeks...yay! They are easy to apply and don't have a smell like nail polish does. And you will get tons of compliments on them because of the fun patterns and colors they come in. This is all purely my personal opinion.

I thought the navy blue denim pattern would be a nice way to slowly transition into fall. Best part is that when they start to chip it's barely noticeable! I love the look of a patterned mani and solid pedi. My jewel-tone violet toes that you can barely see are Essie Big Spender. I will leave you with a tip- don't subject the nail strips package to extreme heat before applying (i.e. leaving them in your car on a 90 degree day). They will loose their stickiness.

Daily Outfit: Retro Sorbet

There's nothing better than scoring the "one that almost got away". I was in Anthropologie, browsing the sale section as per usual. I came across this skirt, it was the only one left and happened to be in my size. It was on sale for $20; originally $150. I loved the color, the high-waist vintage inspired style, and the way it fit. So I did the only obvious thing there was to do; I left it there. Yes, that's right I walked out without buying anything. And then I obsessed about it in my mind for the entire car ride home and all through my bikram yoga class (not good when you are trying to be focused). I was real busy planning outfits based around an item that I didn't own. Finally that night I caved in and called the store, it was still there and luckily they put it aside for me to purchase. Cue sigh of relief (also noted that I might be a little bit crazy). So much for trying to be good, but honestly it was a must-have don't you think?*

Paired with a simple white tee and cognac slingbacks, I was feeling fabulously retro chic! My MavenFresh triangle scarf was the icing on the cake- it's super easy to wear and drapes so well. We tried to capture the subtle sparkle created by the hand-sewn gold crystals...bling!  And you better believe this "sorbet" pencil skirt will still be seen out & about with tights/boots in the cooler days coming up.

*Being that I recently re-confirmed to myself that there should not be any new purchasing of clothing/bags/shoes until further notice, I had no business even being in Anthro. Ha that went well.

PFM Mani Pedi - Carnival

i have been more into nail polish this summer than i have been since my college days. i remembered that it is such a cool way to add color to your life! one of my favorite go-to polishes is this simple glitter color from Essie.  it's called "Carnival" and that's exactly what it makes me think of with its silver holographic glitter.  you get a flash of rainbow sparkle with every turn of your hand! the best part is that when it starts to chip, you can hardly tell (which makes me love it more).  who'd think that such a simple polish would draw so many compliments.  other women are always telling me they love my polish.  i guess they also see what i find so fun and chic at the same time!

Daily Outfit: Beautiful B-Girl

crazy me lol
vintage design - my nefer necklace and it's jingle bells

i am totally saddened that the warm weather days are dwindling.  since i know my days of easy dressing are coming to an end till next spring, i am trying to take full advantage of the days i have left.  there is nothing more fabulous than being submerged in a color.  today's choice - kelly green.  this color (all bright colors actually) makes me so happy.  i also feel confident and chic without much effort at all. to make this dress office appropriate, i paired it with a rare thrift shop find - a matte silver sequin tube top.   the color of the dress inspired me to bring out one of my vintage necklace designs (created before MavenFresh was born).  the ancient egyptian "nefer" symbol on it means beautiful and that's exactly how it makes me feel.  the bells at the end of the necklace's fringe add a sweet soundtrack to every step i make!  i also brought out a vintage Tasha West design (one of my talented designer friends) - these asymmetrical leather earrings are light as well as the perfect compliment to the necklace. my turquoise adidas track jacket is an addition that's fun and also functional; you know, i gotta let my inner b-girl shine! :)

Daily Outfit: Blushing Cupcake

Yummm cupcakes... I am definitely more of a salt girl than a sweet girl but put a cupcake on the menu and all bets are off. Especially if it's a weekend afternoon, nothing is planned, and my mind wanders to thoughts of vanilla hazelnut cupcakes at One Girl Cookies. When that happens we don't waste any time hitting the road.
Speaking of cupcakes, whenever I wear this favorite tunic dress of mine it reminds me of cupcake icing and their cute lil pleated liners. Hee hee! The tunic is so adaptable; it works just as well over jeans or leggings as it does on it's own with only an over sized black silk blazer and wedges for evening. Feminine tiers, blushing pink color, and a touch of floral makes for a fun look. Had to add the braids to sweeten it all up a bit!

Daily Oufit: Grape Confetti

i'm sooo happy the sun is out!!

patent clogs are boho cute!!

it's been forever since i posted a daily outfit! i've been on vacation and enjoying bumming around in my house clothes lol and didn't think you'd enjoy seeing that posted here :).  i returned to my day job this week and so i'm back on my fashion grind.  in honor of fashion's night out and all the festivities that happened this evening, i dubbed this outfit grape confetti.  i thought it was gonna rain all day so i put aside the original outfit i wanted to wear today for this easy going look.  my MavenFresh crocheted mobius is the perfect way to dress up my simple tank and dark super skinnys. my grey blazer (not shown) brings in a little bit of corporate and warmth (it's still freezing in my office). adding my fave tulle bow and some cute patent clogs made the outfit complete!
